Who we are
This training site is run by My Tech Team Ltd (“My Tech Team”, “we”), Burgess Hill, West Sussex. We provide it to the organisations we support with IT, so their staff can complete short training courses.
Your employer (the organisation whose link you used) decides that its staff should complete this training and is the controller of your training records. We act as their processor: we only use your information to run the training for them, under our agreement with them.
What we collect
- Your name and work email address, which you enter before starting.
- Your training progress: which course you started, how far you got, whether you completed or passed it, your quiz score, and the dates and times.
- Technical information needed to resume the course where you left off (the course's own saved progress data).
We check your internet (IP) address to confirm you are connecting from your organisation's office, but we do not store it with your training record. To protect the site from password-guessing attacks, if an access code or password is entered incorrectly we record the IP address and time in a security log, kept for up to 180 days, and repeated failures can cause that IP address to be blocked temporarily. Our hosting provider may also keep standard server logs for security.
Why we use it
- To let you take the course and carry on where you left off.
- To give you a certificate when you finish.
- To give your employer a record of who has completed the training and their results, which they may use as evidence of staff training (for example for cyber insurance, Cyber Essentials or data protection compliance).
The lawful basis is legitimate interests: your employer has a legitimate interest in making sure staff are trained to use technology safely and effectively – for example spotting and reporting cyber threats and handling personal data safely, which also helps it meet its duty under UK GDPR to keep personal data secure. We will not use your details for marketing, and we never sell them.
Who can see it
- Your employer's nominated contacts, who receive completion reports from us.
- Authorised My Tech Team staff who run the site.
- Our web hosting provider, which stores the data on our behalf. The data is held in the United Kingdom.
How long we keep it
Training records are deleted automatically 24 months after they were last updated. Your employer can also ask us to delete them sooner, for example when you leave.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or object to how it is used. Please contact your employer, or email us at privacy@mytechteam.uk and we will pass your request to your employer or help directly.
If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Cookies
This site uses one essential cookie to keep you signed in while you do the training. It is deleted when you close your browser. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.

Some links take you to other websites, such as the NCSC and ICO. Those sites have their own privacy notices, and anything you do there is not recorded by us.
